Princing applied

According to a study carried out by ADEME, the price is a decisive motivating factor in the choice of a mobility service. The construction of the price structure varies according to the types of transport:

  • Parisian Taxis

The pricing of French and Parisian taxis are governed by law. Taxis are the only ones that can do marauding, that is to say, take customers directly from the street without prior reservation.

  • Private Hire

Race reservations by a VTC/private hire operator are necessarily made by a mobile application. Each operator determines its prices. Prices are subject to change.

According to the basis of calculation of each operator, Turtle is generally:

  • 10% to 50% cheaper than private hire/VTC
  • 30 to 50% cheaper than Taxis

These averages were calculated on the basis of several races in Paris and a reading taken at several times of the day. It does not take into account any promotions.

The reason why Turtle can offer cheap prices, mainly lies in the fact that the costs of using the vehicle are very low compared to a car (petrol, maintenance, repairs, cost of purchase or rental, etc). These charges are for the driver and the price of the race must take this into account so that the driver can be properly remunerated. Regarding our social engagement, a surcharge can be added on the night shifts.

Turtle wishes to be an actor of the last kilometer and therefore of “short journeys” in Paris. You may already notice that it is becoming more and more difficult to order groceries for short trips. Indeed, due to road traffic in particular, drivers often do not find their account in view of the time spent to complete the race. By avoiding congestion, Turtle taxi-bikes do not experience this problem and meet the need for mobility on these short journeys.

The passenger transport market

Turtle integrates into the urban passenger transport sector and its various mobility services. There are taxis, VTC/Private hire, self-service bicycles, self-service scooters, self-service scooters and self-service cars.

It is important to distinguish between passenger transport with driver and free-floating. Due to the nature of its use, which involves driving the vehicle and having an activity (physical effort, high attention to one's environment, safety, stability, driving licence, drunkenness, disability, etc.), the percentage of he average use of Ile-de-France residents is around 20%. On the other hand, the average rate of use of T3P (special public transport of people = Taxi + VTC) is close to 80%.

The Turtle pedicabs are driven by drivers, the activity is close to that of the VTC or Taxis that we will study here. You should know that each year in Greater Paris (75, 92, 93, 94), more than 200 million trips are made by T3P professionals (about 70M by taxis and 130M by VTC). That's 6.5 pick-ups per second.
